Five-Day Intensive with Elf Lyons

Work with your ego to make the show you keep bullying yourself into thinking you’re not capable of making.

Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm (includes two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch break)

Overview

A practical, no-nonsense five-day intensive for artists of all disciplines who are ready to create bold, brilliant new work.

Whether you’re developing a solo piece, ensemble show, or experimental project, this workshop will push you out of your comfort zone and into a space of fearless creativity, drawing on techniques from a wide range of creative practices.

Over the course of the week, you’ll explore:

• Writing and devising from the ground up.

• Improvisation and character development.

• Script work and structural techniques.

• Practical strategies for staging and performing.

• The do’s and don’ts of making work today, including tips on touring, choosing the right venue, and marketing yourself.

• Understanding and finding your audience.

The week culminates in a Friday showing, where you’ll have the chance to test your concepts and practise confidently sharing your ideas with others.

This intensive is for anyone ready to take their creative work seriously, including:

• Artists of all disciplines — performers, writers, directors, designers, comedians, and makers.

• Anyone who needs to be reminded that this is a job, and it is valid and important to give yourself dedicated, structured time to prioritise your creativity.
